It Was What It Was: A Tale of the 1st Infantry Division in Iraq

This was the story that inspired me to start writing narrative non-fiction. I hated the idea that everything we did in Iraq would be lost to history, so I tried to capture it in an engaging way to help folks understand what happened.

The story itself is an account of a pretty typical lieutenant trying to attack a problem what was outside the scope of anything he or his platoon had ever had to deal with.
